CSBG – Emergency Assistance Program
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program provides a range of services and activities having a measurable and potentially major impact on the causes of poverty in the community, or those areas of the community where poverty is a particularly acute problem.
CSBG is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program is administered by the Louisiana Workforce Solution and by Delta Community Action Association for the Parishes of Madison and Richland.
CSBG funding supports projects that:
- Lessen poverty in communities
- Address the needs of low-income individuals including the homeless, migrants and the elderly
- Provide services and activities that address employment, education, better use of available income, housing, nutrition, emergency services and/or health
With the support of CSBG funding, Delta Community Action Association works to achieve the following goals for low-income individuals:
- Increased self-sufficiency
- Improved living conditions
- Ownership of and pride in their communities
- Strong families and other support systems
With the support of CSBG funding, the Emergency Assistance Program, Share the Warmth, Food for Senior, USDA Commodities, and local donations provide funds for emergency assistance. This assistance may include:
- rental assistance
- utility assistance
- food
Individuals requiring services that Delta Community Action Association cannot provide are given referrals.
